Enlighten, Scotland’s independent think tank, is delighted to invite you to join a discussion about Scotland’s performance in the latest global education rankings.
The Programme for International Student Assessment, commonly known as PISA, is produced by the OECD every three years and measures 15-year-olds’ ability to use their reading, mathematics and science knowledge and skills.
In recent PISA surveys, Scotland’s performance has shown worrying signs of decline, indicating problems with the Curriculum for Excellence and driving calls for reform. The latest data will be released on September 8.
We will be joined by:
Lindsay Paterson, Professor Emeritus of Education Policy at the University of Edinburgh, and author of the recently published Lessons from Scottish Schools: Why Knowledge Matters.
Daisy Christodoulou, Director of Education at No More Marking, a provider of online Comparative Judgement software for schools. Daisy is the author of three books about education: Teachers vs Tech, Making Good Progress, and Seven Myths about Education.
The discussion will be chaired by Chris Deerin, Director of Enlighten.
